Scale

Self-denial is one of the most detrimental things to good health and personal progress. There are times when reality hits us square in the face and we are presented with information that is both accurate and unflattering. If impulse and self-preservation take over, we deny and defend and spend the next moments groping for justifications and searching for flaws in the instruments (or people) that presented this information.

Yesterday, I posted about clearing the noise and giving our ear to the really important (and usually quiet) voices rather than the loudest ones. But let’s be sure to not let pride clear out the voices we need but just don’t want to hear. Because our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual conditions are never static, it’s important to regularly gauge their health by spending time to honestly reflect and opening our hearts to humbly listen to family/friends.
